Our Puppy Socials give your young puppy the chance to meet new friends, practice communicating with other dogs, interact with other puppy parents and help your puppy build essential life skills.
And all in a safe, positive environment, supervised by a certified positive reinforcement trainer!
There are certainly inherent risks to bringing puppies into public areas before they are fully vaccinated.
At the same time, there are risks to limiting socialization during their critical development period, which occurs up to around three months of age.
We work to minimize these risks by holding early socialization classes in a controlled environment, such as our training room, which is cleaned regularly.
Our classes are also designed based on the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behaviour’s Position Statement on Puppy Socialization.
That being said, we never want to encourage anyone to go against the advice of their primary care veterinarian.
Evaluating the situation from all angles is important: Veterinarians are focused on protecting puppies from physical illness, while we work to address behavioural challenges that can arise from limited early socialization.
Both perspectives are valid and crucial, which is why finding a balance can be challenging.
